Erin Kelly McCollom, MS, CCC-SLP, founder and CEO of The Speech Village, is a pediatric speech-language pathologist (SLP) and feeding therapist. After completing her bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science with a Speech-Language Pathology concentration at the University of Delaware, she received her master’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a Bilingual Extension from Columbia University. Erin has her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and is licensed to practice in the states of Maryland and Virginia. She is also an ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE) Winner.
Erin has spent the majority of her career as an SLP in the public school system with children in Pre-K through 6th grade. In this role, she has assessed and treated students with primary speech and language disorders as well as those secondary to a variety of diagnoses including, but not limited to, developmental delay, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, and various genetic disorders (e.g., Down syndrome). Erin has worked with similar populations in the outpatient clinic setting as well.
Additionally, Erin has spent a significant part of her career as an SLP working in client homes with children from infancy through preschool age. Along with supporting speech and language in this role, she has specialized in assessing and treating pediatric feeding disorders including, but not limited to, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, transitioning to solids and straw/cup drinking, food selectivity, sensorimotor development, and other feeding difficulties resulting from complex medical conditions. Furthermore, she has specialized in treating pediatric orofacial myofunctional disorders, such as tethered oral tissues. Erin is trained in Feed the Peds and the Myo Method and has completed 50+ hours of lactation-focused coursework.
Erin also has extensive education and training in speech, language, and feeding disorders as they relate to velopharyngeal dysfunction (e.g., cleft lip and palate, 22q11.2, etc.).
In her spare time, you will find Erin hanging out with her husband, John, and their rescue dog, Lincoln.
